Oscar Nominations 2012

Oscar Nominations 2012The 84th Academy Awards is one step closer to the big reveal for the best of the best in the film industry.  The nominations for this year’s Oscars have just been announced mixing history, art, appreciation and combine in a way that oozes nostalgia.  There are nine films this year that are recognized in the best film category and if you haven’t seen them yet, try to venture out and see the ones that are still available to see in the theater or watch any that are available to rent.

A spectacle to behold in 3D, Hugo managed to earn 11 Oscar nominations – the most of any film this year.  This includes, of course, for cinematography in its successful grip on the viewer’s expectations.  Hugo was filmed as a 3D movie.  It was intentional.  You will sense that when you watch it.  This year’s Oscar eleven nominations is a justification of a much deserved presentation by Martin Scorsese and his team of expert movie makers.  This is very good considering that not one of the four acting awards – best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, and best supporting actress – was granted to the film.  Hugo was certainly a movie made by professionals in their field.
