Sick Fish
We have all heard the advice that tells us to eat more and more fish. Fish contain healthy Omega-3 fatty acids that improve our overall health. Maybe you have heard the old joke about the seafood diet. You see food and you eat it.
That is the “see-food” diet!
This latest caution from the CDC warns us to be more vigilant on where that watery fare derives. That tasty fish may be harboring some nasty stowaways.
Be sure to cook your food to the right temperate for long enough to kill off unwanted parasites. People eating imported fish are getting sick from food borne illnesses such as the relentless E.coli bacteria. The number of outbreaks related to bad food is on the rise over the past few years. The Centers for Disease Control are reporting that roughly half of the recent imported food sickness outbreaks come from bad fish. This is certainly a stinky morsel of information for fish lovers. Try to stay away from bad health choices. Given that a significant amount, which is 16%, of our food is imported, it is very important to remain cautious when it comes to purchasing raw meat.
The dietary practice of including fish is certainly a staple for many cultures around the world. Some just grow up with eating as much of it as possible, especially in regions near water. Sometimes raw meat will contain unhealthy pathogens like E.coli or salmonella. Choosing to stop eating fish as a result of these findings should not be the case. Choose to stop eating fish if you want to be a vegetarian.
