Tiny Frog

Tiny Frog

Tiny FrogMother Nature really knows how to amaze.  From the giant shrimp invasion to the cute amphibian gathering that is sure to astound and invoke a gentile “awe” from its onlookers.  Don’t breathe too heavily, it just might float away.  The amphibian mentioned here is a little frog that has recently been discovered.  The scientific name is Paedophryne amauensis and its width is less than a third of an inch long – or about 0.7mm in length.  That is one tiny frog!

The itsy bitsy tree frog, also referred to as P. amauensis, lives among the leaves of the rain forest and was discovered near the southeastern region of New Guinea.  It is believed that this habitat has lead to its small stature.  You’ll see in the photo that it is completed dwarfed by a common coin.  It is a very small frog indeed.

I wonder what discoveries may be found next.  It may appear that Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes.  After dealing with over-sized shrimp and extra small frogs, we might see something never thought of before this.  How about we maintain a watchful eye for extra large frogs and microscopic shrimp?  That sounds like extra fun.  Did somebody say esc argot?
